Happy Tuesday everyone!
I realize I posted a video this morning without a real explanation and for those who only follow the blog, I said some things in it that perhaps didn’t make sense, because I did not in fact, post the video update Ben and I did yesterday.
Anyway, our update was regarding once again a change to our situation and what is now going on with us.
As you know from a previous post, I had resigned from my job as a vocational rehabilitation counselor almost two months ago now. I know I haven’t written up or done a video of that experience and I promise it some day will be coming when I am able to talk about it, but for now like I said before, it was because of the hostile situation I was in, and how horrible I was being treated overall. That is all I will say for now.
Our new update and news are that as of Monday, yesterday, Ben has also resigned from his position. Due to some changes in the nature of his position, he felt he was unable to accommodate, so therefore felt it best for him and his family if he resigned.
We have been planning for months now to start our own business that has many parts to it surrounding a bigger picture. We officially registered as an LLC back in October as JBMurphy Design. From that, we have ideas of what that is going to look like. So, yes, we are going to try the owning our own business way of doing things. Will it be easy? No, and we know that. But, will it be worth it? We hope! We both realize what we were doing and have been doing for years now was just existing in jobs where we weren’t making the money we wanted to, and not really enjoying or getting satisfaction from what we were doing. We realize a lot goes into forming our own business, and we are at this point more than willing to work for what we are wanting. We also realize our children are the most important to us so if after some time of not being able to make this work and we aren’t making money and unable to no longer effectively care for our family, we will look into other options as in getting jobs or at least one of us will. For now, we have decided to take the leap so to speak. You never know unless you try, and you can’t try unless you give it your all. We weren’t getting very far before because working full-time for both of us and taking care of two under 6 was taking up way more time than we had to spend on making our dream come true. We aren’t naïve though. We know if we aren’t able to make it work, we need to do whatever we need to do to keep us and our kids happy and healthy. For now, we have enough to work with to allow us to work on the dream that has been bouncing around in our heads now for a while. I know there will be people who are very concerned by our actions and decisions at this time, but we also know that this feels to us like the right time to try this. Neither of us have been happy professionally for a while, so this is a new chapter and journey we are embarking on. We hope you will continue to join us. We hope to keep you updated about the journey of this and our personal lives still as well. I hope to now also keep this place more updated than I have with the videos we have been posting but also written content as I know that is how some people prefer to get their updates/follow a more traditional blog.
